The Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization whose mission is to be the proactive voice of local business, working for the promotion, protection and prosperity of our members and community. Last fall, after a resounding response from our membership survey, the Chamber Board of Directors gathered to shape a strategic plan for our organization. One of the primary outcomes was organizational funding.
The Chamber’s membership dues base generates approximately 48% of the total operating budget, and the 1-cent optional support we receive annually from the city and county together makes up another 9%. This means that 43% of our operating budget must be raised through non-dues revenue avenues, such as ad sales, programs, contracts for services, and fundraisers.
This year, the Chamber of Commerce is holding its first annual Brewfest fundraiser. The event will be held from 2:00-8;00 pm on Saturday, September 8, and will take place in Whitney Plaza, as provided by the Whitney Plaza Owner’s Association. We will be welcoming a dozen or more brewing companies from around Wyoming and surrounding states. The event will offer master brewers an opportunity to gather with others in their industry and market their products in the Sheridan area. It will also offer the public an opportunity to taste many finely-crafted microbrews and vote for their favorite.
The Chamber Brewfest is sure to draw visitors from around the region and will give Sheridan another opportunity to showcase our community. We hope you will make plans to come down and enjoy wonderful entertainment by local musicians Gary Small & the Coyote Bros., The Craft Brothers, and the Teka Brock Band. We will have food vendors on site, complimentary trolley rides to and from area hotels, and complimentary shuttle service home provided by Fremont Toyota.
Get your tickets today for $25, from the Chamber office, online at www.sheridanwyomingchamber.org, or at the Black Tooth Brewing Company. Or you may purchase tickets at the event for $35. Either way, we hope to see you September 8 to help us brew up funds for business!
