Election Item: Renewal of City’s Lodging Tax
Chamber Supports 4% Lodging Tax
When those of you who live in Sheridan go to the polls on November 6, you will also have the opportunity to vote for another four years’ continuation of our city-wide lodging tax. This is the tax paid by visitors staying in Sheridan hotels, motels, B&Bs, cottages, and RV parks. It is not paid by you. The tax has been in effect since 1992 and renewed by your vote every four years since that time.
The funds received from this tax are used by Sheridan Travel and Tourism for the sole purpose of promoting our destination to visitors. These visitors, by best estimate, spent over $86 million in Sheridan County in the last tourism year … and allowed us to sustain almost 1,000 jobs related to tourism activity.
The Board of Directors of the Sheridan County Chamber supports the continuation of this tax and urges you to vote YES for its renewal.
