Chamber To Honor Local Businesses With Annual Awards
This article originally appeared as a “Community Perspective” article in The Sheridan Press, January 4, 2014.
Every year the Chamber of Commerce has the pleasure of honoring member businesses and member business people with our Annual Business Awards. What makes these awards so special is the recipients are nominated by their peers, competitors and friends from the business community.
The categories for the awards are Spirit of Sheridan, which goe to a volunteer who gives countless hours for the betterment of the Chamber and the community overall. Next is Strength of Sheridan, which is awarded to a member business that has been in business and supporting our Chamber of Commerce and community for 20 or more years. We also honor a Business Person of the Year. This person is an outstanding leader and one who makes substantial contributions to our community.
The final award that will be given is Business of the Year. This award honors a Chamber member business that serves the Sheridan area in the finest way possible and one that takes pride in its work. This business offers exceptional customer service and a positive atmosphere for their customers, clients and the community overall.
This year, the slate of nominees was quite large, which speaks volumes about the caliber of businesses and business people that we have in our community.
The winners are going to be announced at next week’s Chamber Luncheon on January 8 at 11:30 am at the Holiday Inn. The event is open to the public and all are invited to attend. The cost is $15 per person and includes a delicious buffet lunch.
As a close to my article and a close to 2013, I would like to give special thanks to our 2013 Community Partners. Without the support of these businesses, the Chamber would not be able to continue to support our community in all of the ways that we do.
So thank you, Cloud Peak Energy, Decker Coal, First Federal Savings Bank, First Interstate Bank, Ptolemy Data Systems, Sheridan Media, Advanced Communications Technologies, Sheridan College, Sheridan Electronics – RadioShack, Sheridan Memorial Hospital & Foundation, Sheridan VA Medical Center, and Wyolution.
On behalf of myself and all of the Chamber staff, we would like to wish everyone in our wonderful community a safe, healthy and prosperous 2014 !
