2013

Sheridan County Schools - Sheridan High School (District #2), and Big Horn High School and Tongue River High School (District #1) recognized for as “excellent” high schools by U.S. News & World Report.  Sheridan High School received a silver award, and Big Horn and Tongue River received bronze awards. These awards recognize public high schools across the county that “serve all of their students well, not just those who are college-bound, and produce measurable academic outcomes to show the school is successfully educating its student body.”

Sheridan’s Historic Main Street – Downtown Sheridan Association designated as an accredited National Main Street Program from the National Trust of Historic Preservation’s National Main Street Center.

Wyoming – #1 “Tax-Friendliest” State for Businesses, in their annual State Business Tax Climate Index. (Tax Foundation)

2012

Wyoming – 4th highest population growth rate in the nation, July 2011 to July 2012. (Wyoming Business Report)

Sheridan – one of the Top 10 Small Towns (under 25,000 population) in the country, in terms of median household income, home prices, crime rate, unemployment rate, average commute, distances to larger cities, and “quality of life” amenities. (Livability.com

Sheridan College – one of the top 15% of schools in the country as a “Military Friendly School, delivering the best experience for active military, veterans and their families. (Victory Media)

Wyoming – the 3rd best state in which to do business, based on 32 state-government controlled factors including taxes, human resources, education, infrastructure spending, workers’ compensation laws, state budget deficit, and state property tax index. Sheridan  – ranked 5th highest in economic strength, of all 576 “micropolitans” (10,000-50,000 in population) in the U.S. (POLICOM Corporation)

Big Horn High School – named one of the Best High Schools in Wyoming (bronze award). (U.S. News & World Report)

Sheridan – King of Cowboy Towns – #1 Small Town for Cowboy Charm. (Western Horseman magazine)

Wyoming – #1 “Tax-Friendliest” State for Businesses, in their annual State Business Tax Climate Index. (Tax Foundation)

2011

Sheridan High School (Sheridan County School District #2) – Wyoming State football champions (Class 4A) for the 2011-12 school year.

Big Horn High School (Sheridan County School District #1) - named by the U.S. Department of Education as one of 233 “high-performing Blue Ribbon Schools” in the nation.

Sheridan High School (Sheridan County School District #2) – Lady Broncs, Wyoming State volleyball champions (Class 4A) for the 2011-12 school year. 

Sheridan – #2 Distinction Destination for 2011, selected by public vote across the country. (National Trust for Historic Preservation) 

Sheridan – one of the 20 Best Places to Live in the West. (American Cowboy magazine)

Sheridan – one of 64 Best Old House Neighborhoods. (This Old House magazine)

STT - #1 Western Town

One of our favorite awards, though, came in 2006 … when Sheridan was named the very first #1 Western Town in America! (True West magazine)
