Historic Sheridan Inn
This building of 69 gables is a National Historic Landmark, once considered the finest hotel between Chicago and San Francisco. It was frequented by Buffalo Bill Cody who auditioned acts for his famous Wild West Show from the porch of the grand old building.
 
Sheridan Trolley
Electric trolleys once carried passengers in Sheridan, and a gas-powered modern rendition now takes locals and visitors on a historical tour of the community. the Sheridan Trolley runs between Memorial Day and Labor Day at just $1 per round-trip token.
 
Walking Tour of Historic Downtown
A self-guided walking tour guides you through a walking tour of the historic business district of Sheridan. This tour is designed by the Downtown Sheridan Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of our historic downtown.
 
Sheridan County Museum
This museum features interactive exhibits, dioramas, and a gift shop highlighting the colorful cultures, commerce and characters of the area. Located just off the Fifth Street exit, the museum serves as the gateway for exploring historic downtown Sheridan and heritage sites around the region.
 
Area Parks
Natural beauty abounds in Sheridan, and the many parks throughout the community make it easy to access the outdoors. Kendrick Park is a hub of summer activity, with an outdoor swimming pool, band shell, and ice-cream stand. The newly constructed Whitney Commons offers a more formal park setting, with a botanical garden, meditation labyrinth, amphitheater, and water fountain. A 7-mile pathway system connects these with many smaller parks and other sites of interest.
 
Trail End State Historic Site (also known as the Kendrick Mansion)
This state-owned facility is owned and operated by the State of Wyoming. It is the former mansion of John B. Kendrick, a Wyoming senator, governor, and rancher. Carefully restored and authentically furnished, Trail End shows an elegantly different side of Wyoming’s rich ranching heritage. The 3-story mansion features original furnishings and woodwork unmatched anywhere. The construction required 36 train boxcars of wood in order to complete.
 
King Museum
The King Museum contains memorabilia of many lifetimes. The museum features Native American artifacts, antiques, western art and a collection of over 500 saddles, some dating back to the 1800’s. No admission is charged, but donations are accepted. The museum is located behind King’s Saddlery at 184 N. Main.
 
WYO Theater
From Broadway plays to nationally known musical entertainment to local talent - all can be seen at the WYO Theater. During changing economies, the old Lotus Theater was closed and a group of local citizens armed only with a dream and determination set out to "Save the WYO". The result is a full-service stage theater that reopened in 1989.
 
Wyoming State Information Center
This picturesque site is a great place to take a break from your travels. It has several picnic sites with barbecues, playground, pond, and information about Wyoming and the Sheridan County area. The center offers hundreds of brochures on state and area attractions to help you make the best of your travels. The visitor counter is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday all year, with extended hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., 7 days a week, May 15 through October 15.
 
Crook’s Camp
In May 1876, General George Crook and his troops arrived at present day Sheridan setting up camp along Big Goose Creek. From there, Crook set out against the Sioux and Cheyenne camped in southern Montana. On June 17, 1876, 8 days before the Custer Battle, Crook’s troops met the Sioux warriors of Crazy Horse at the Battle of the Rosebud. This battle, between Sioux and Cheyenne and Crooks’ forces, ended in a draw and forced Crook to withdraw back to his camp on the Big Goose Creek.
 
Wyoming Game and Fish
The Sheridan office of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department is located at the 5th Street Exit off of I-90, across from the Information Center. The office also provides an extensive gallery display of wildlife in the area.  
 
Sheridan County Recreation Complex
The Sheridan County Recreation Complex, located west of Sheridan on 5th Street, is home to trap and skeet shooters and radio-controlled aircraft. Ranges are available for trap and skeet shooting, black powder, rifle and silhouette; and a sporting clays course. Numerous registered trap shoots are held throughout the year. The Flying Cowboys radio controlled aircraft association leases the land at the complex and meets April through September.
