County Commissioners from All Over Wyoming Coming to Sheridan

By: Eda Schunk Thompson, Sheridan County Clerk

Sheridan County looks forward to welcoming the Wyoming County Comissioners Association (WCCA) to Sheridan for the 2012 Spring WCCA Meetings next week, April 25-27. WCCA is hoping to have representation from all 23 counties, knowing how valuable it is to have the views and perspectives from commissioners across our state. Approximately 75 County Commissioners are expected to arrive in our county, along with speakers, staff, family members, and other local and state government officials.

We have been working very closely with WCCA to put together an informative and educational program that will include a refresher course on election law and procedures, as well as a presentation from the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. And the gathering is a clear opportunity to showcase our own community.

The state meetings will kick off with a welcome reception at King Ropes & the Don King Museum. The next day, the commissioners will tour Forward Sheridan, a successful business incubator that targets public and private partnerships, maintains and builds existing businesses, and supports entrepreneur and early stage company development. Forward Sheridan, housed in a county-owned facility, demonstrates the Wyoming Business Council money at work.

WCCA’s general meetings, social hour, and banquet dinner will be held at the Historical Sheridan Inn, with the Sheridan Trolley providing transportation. Other accommodations and meals during the meetings will be provided by the Wingate Inn, the Best Western Sheridan Center, Black Tooth Brewing Company, and Sheridan County Memorial Hospital.

We expect this meeting to have a noticeable impact on our local economy, with lodging, meals, and shopping and with local historical tours available for guests. Over 60 sponsors are helping make the meetings a success, by providing sponsorship, registration bag gifts, door prizes, or volunteering their time. The Chamber Ambassadors will be greeting and assisting the commissioners and their guests at both King Ropes and the Historic Sheridan Inn.

WCCA and Sheridan County wish to thank you all. For more information, contact Eda Schunk Thompson, Sheridan County Clerk, at 675-2509 or
