Update on Chamber Committees

Last week the chairpersons and co-chairs of the Sheridan County Chamber committees met with the Chamber Board of Directors and staff with particular emphasis on the important role of the committees in supporting the overall needs of the business community.

In particular, Chamber Board President Ken Thorpe and CEO Dixie Johnson reviewed how each of the committees naturally falls within one of the three divisions of the Chamber’s 2013 priorities:

Business and Economic Development
     Governmental Affairs Committee
          (Richard Garber, Sr., chair)
     Agricultural/Natural Resources/Public Lands
          Committee (Marlin Norling, chair; Clarke
          McClung, co-chair)
     Historic District Business Committee,
a joint committee with Downtown Sheridan
         Association (Jerry Foster, chair)

Membership Retention and Development
     Fundraising Committee (Teresa Detimore, chair)
     Ambassadors (Stephanie Roush, chair; Curtiss
         Johnson, vice chair)

Workforce Development, Training and Education
     Leadership Sheridan County Steering Committee
         (Katie Culver, chair)
     Workforce Development Committee
         (Stacia Skretteberg, chair)

The Chamber committees are critical to carrying out these overall priorities and to supporting the Chamber’s mission of working for the promotion, protection and prosperity of our members and community.

Significant time was also given to reviewing guidelines for committee operations, for maximum effectiveness and consistency.

It was great to have all of this leadership together and continuing to work “on the same page” going forward. We’re also proud to have over one hundred individuals actively involved in these committees – individuals who are having a good time and working hard to contribute to the well-being of the Chamber membership and our community.

For All of You: These are all-volunteer committees, serving our community on a year-round basis. Committee involvement is also another good networking opportunity, as you learn and work side by side. If you’d like more information on any of the committees, we encourage you to contact the committee chairperson or the Chamber office. More information on each committee is also available on this Chamber website
