Wyoming #1 State for Future Retirees
The National Institute on Retirement Security has just completed a study ranking Wyoming as the #1 state for future retirees. Their report looks at the economic prospects for retirees across the country, focusing on potential retirement income, major retiree costs, and labor market conditions for older workers. Wyoming scored near the top in every category and received the top ranking overall.
The purpose of the study was to inform state-level stakeholders and policymakers about the financial security outlook for future retirees in their state and to help identify potential areas of focus for state-based policy interventions to improve retirement prospects.
In his media release announcing the report, Gov. Mead commented, “It bodes well for our state and citizens that we earned such a high ranking. But we must continue to work for a strong economy so that the private sector can continue to provide good wages and employment opportunities to help individuals today as they prepare for retirement.” [click here for a copy of the 44-page report]
