Creative Economy Council
The Creative Economy Council was formed earlier this summer to recognize, celebrate, strengthen and grow the Creative [Arts] Economy in Sheridan and Johnson Counties. This includes representatives from Sheridan College, Sheridan Artists’ Guild (SAGE), the two Chambers of Commerce, and other members of the creative arts community and the general public.
The Council currently has a planning grant to hire consultants to help with three to five creative economy projects – projects that have a non-profit or government sponsorship. We’re seeking proposals for what those projects might be, with proposals to be presented at the Council’s next planning meeting on August 28.
If you’d like to make a presentation at that meeting for a project to be considered for the grant, please send a one-page summary of your proposed planning project to Susan Bigelow, Council chair, as soon as possible – by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by mail to Dr. Susan Bigelow, Sheridan College, P.O. Box 1500, Sheridan. The summary should include project description, non-profit/government
sponsor, contact person and contact information, planning work that has already been accomplished, planning work to be done using grant funds, and expertise needed in the planning phase that you do not have (such as an architect). And feel free to call or email Susan (674-6446 Ext 2861) for more information before sending your summary. The Council will then select up to five projects to be supported.
These are exciting and growing times for the creative arts in Sheridan/Johnson County, and we don’t want to miss any of your great ideas!
