Election 2016 in Sheridan County
In addition to the U.S. Presidential election, there will again be a number of statewide and local positions on the ballot, including:
* Wyoming’s U.S. Congressional Representative (currently Rep. Cynthia Lummis)
* 5 of the 6 Wyoming state legislators from Sheridan County
* 2 of our 5 Sheridan County commissioners
* Sheridan City mayor and 3 of the 6 City councilors
* 2 Dayton council members
* 3 Ranchester council members
* College and school district trustees; conservation district board
Consider your own interest in serving in one of these positions. Several candidates have already announced their intention to run. The official filing period for local positions is May 12 thru May 27, at the Sheridan County Elections Office.
Plan now to be an informed voter. The Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee will be hosting its Candidate Forums again – in August for the primary election and in October for the general elections. Dates and locations to be announced soon.
Most importantly: Plan to VOTE. If you’re not already an active registered voter in Sheridan County, you may register any time at the Elections Office on the 2nd floor of the Sheridan County courthouse. In Wyoming, you are also able to register at your polling place immediately before voting. (Note: You must declare a political party affiliation in order to vote for a political party candidate in the PRIMARY election.)
