Sleepy Little Towns?

I usually only drive through Ranchester and Dayton at certain times, mostly weekends on my way up to the mountains, or in the evening to visit my in-laws in Dayton. Almost always I am with my family and chatting up a storm or singing a high-spirited children's song at the top of my lungs. All that to say, I'm often not paying attention to my surroundings. This past Wednesday was a change of pace for me. I drove out to Dayton for the Chamber Coffee, this time wearing my Chamber hat. I think "pleasantly surprised" would adequately describe my experience. The sleepy little towns I'm used to on weekends or in the evenings? Not here.

Critical Air Service Team and the Community

The community-wide stakeholder group known as the Critical Air Service Team (CAST) has been working for years on the critically important issue of air service. This issue has recently taken on a whole new level of urgency, and what we know is that although the CAST stakeholders are passionate and proactive in working on this issue, we can't do it alone. CAST has engaged in discussions with several carriers over the last several months, but because of the overwhelming challenges most airlines are experiencing today from new regulations and pilot shortage, none of these discussions netted favorable results for Sheridan. However, recent discussions between CAST and Denver Air Connections (a subsidiary of Key Lime Air) have given us a renewed sense of hope.

Sheridan County's population is now over 30,000. The U.S. Census Bureau's new projected estimates for July 1, 2014 shows Sheridan County's population at 30,032 (compared to 29,116 in the official 2010 U.S. Census).
